"Burning Chrome" by William Gibson was an good read, There is a lot of cyber lingo that come out in the story. Sometimes it was hard to read. I liked the relationship between Bobby and Rikki. Jack was the one who thinks before he walks and Bobby is like the crazy wild one, he's more like an older brother and I think they need each other to balance them out. although they was hackers I don't think they was bad. the real bad people in this novel is Rikki and chrome. Rikki for betraying them . bobby really liked Rikki, and she lied and double crossed them to buy herself eyes. Rikki felt in love with the money.
"Computer Friendly" by Eileen Gunn was a fun read the story is coming from a 7 year old girl, so that change the whole adult narrator that we're use to. she made things that's normal sound very normal, when a child is telling the story everything is different because as an adult we know everything in don't ask questions but kids on the other hand ask tons of questions and if they cant get an answer the make something up for it.

"The Monkey's Paw"
"The Monkey's Paw" by J.J. Jacobs is basically a story saying be very careful for what you wish for, because when you get it you might not like the effects of it. when reading this book I kind got witch craft and also genie and a lamp. its like the elements of witch crafts and a voodoo kind of feeling to it ,but at the same time it gives off a genie in a lamp were you have three wishes but when you make a wish its not really given you what you want
"Premature Burial
"Premature Burial" by Edgar Allan Poe was weird but I thought it was horror which I don't like, the story started of by talking about how people was mistaking ass dead , like paranoia and prematurely buried. the narrator seem to be obsessed about death . you can tell in this time people was very scared to be buried alive because it seem to happen so much. they would tie balls and other things to their graves so people can see that their not dead and save them

Berenice
The poem, Berenice, by Edgar Allen Poe was fascinating
and I enjoyed reading it. Throughout the story, the narrator Egaeus pronounces
his adoration and admiration for his cousin, Berenice, who he grew up with. I
enjoyed how detailed and passionate the narrator was when describing Berenice
and her beauty, “Oh, gorgeous yet fantastic beauty! Oh, sylph amid the
shrubberies of Arnheim! Oh, Naiad among its fountains!” The story gets really
deep when Egaeus begins to show how the two both begin to change, due to
changes both health and mental changes. It upset me how Egaeus began to treat
Berenice when her appearance began to drastically change due to her battle with
epilepsy. It seems as if the only feelings Egaeus has toward Berenice is for he
looks, so when her looks begin to deteriorate, he actually develops a disgust
toward her. In my opinion, he should not have married her if he did not truly
love her. Towards the end of the story, Egaeus’ obsession with Berenice’s teeth
takes a horrific turn. I was horrified to discover at the end that his
obsession drove him to pluck every one of Berenice’s teeth out, and even more
horribly, she still survived after being knocked unconscious and mistaken for
dead.
The
Furnished Room
The short story, The Furnished Room, by O’Henry was a
story that moderately interested me, however I thought the tone was very gloomy
and sad. The story follows the tale of a young man who is in search of his
lover. I loved how the man loved his lover, Eloise, so much that he desperately
searched for her in vacant rooms all around the town, just to find someone who
knew of her or seen her. I found it strange how the young man in the story’s
name was not mentioned in the story, although other characters had their names
mentioned, such as Eloise and Mrs. Purdy. I didn’t agree with the old woman
when she was untruthful with the man when he asked of tenants who lived there
previously. Eventually, the young man gives up his search and resorts to
committing suicide, refusing to live without the love of his life. In my
opinion, if he old woman had just been honest with the man about the young
woman’s death, he could have discovered that Eloise had already passed and
maybe his fate could have been different. I found the story very ironic. The same room
Eloise committed suicide in was the same exact room the man committed suicide
in, kind of like Romeo and Juliet. One death caused another tragic death.
The
Boarded Window
The short story, The Boarded Window, by Ambrose Bierce
was a story that was interesting and captivating, although confusing and
puzzling. The narrator describes the story of a mysterious man who lives on the
frontier named Murlock. Murlock is a mysterious man who lives in a wooded house
with a boarded window. When the narrator hints that Murlock has experienced an
extraordinary incident that causes him to look older than he actually he is, I
became very intrigued with the story. The narrator describes the incident that
changed Murlock’s life – Murlock’s wife’s tragic death. It was very confusing,
because as I read the story I had the feeling that Murlock’s wife was not
really dead. However, when the panther attacks Murlock’s “dead” wife and
Murlock regains consciousness to discover his wife has bitten off a piece of
the panther’s ear, however it is clear his wife is dead for sure. The story is
confusing because it is unclear if Murlock’s wife died and came back alive to
fight off the panther, or Murlock’s wife never really died. The thing that is
clear in the story is that Murlock boards the window in order to protect
himself from the stranger creatures, and ensure the panther never returns.

"The Fall of the house of the Usher" was a good read, I loved the way the writer explained the house. I think the house was a reflection of the man in how depress and broken down he was. in the poem his sister was like a ghost she was there but she always walked by in a scary way without saying nothing. the story was a slow read but started to pick up at the end when the brother thought the sister was dead and bared her alive. as the story went on the brother and his friend heard strange sounds which was his sister trying to get out. as I was reading I started to see were the house started to seem hunted when the brother and sister died I can see how the house went down with them because it was an connected with the both of them
“Afterwards” by Edith Wharton was weird but I liked it I don't under stand why someone will want a ghost in there house. I can see how the house of the usher and this story connect with the whole haunting house thing but in this story the house was really haunted. The crazy thing about this story is that the ghost that they wanted in their house was with them since the beginning and they didn't figure it out till the end

The
Raven
Edger Allan Poe poem the raven is very unique to me. This
poem is unique because it shows that Poe was not completely into reality. He
cannot get over the fact that he lost the love of his life Lenore. He asked the
bird a lot of questions like is Lenore in heaven, and the bird will answer
nevermore. Not only did he ask the bird about heaven, but he also asked the
bird about if they will end up together in the afterlife, and then again the
bird said nevermore. When I read this poem it bring up times of sorrow. When
someone is in a time of sorrow it will be hard for them to accept reality. They
would try to find a scapegoat to blame their problems on. This crow symbolizes
Poe memory of Lenore, and that is another reason why it will not go away. He
ask the bird to leave and the bird replies “nevermore”. After reading this poem
I came to the realization that Poe has a lot of unanswered questions. I feel as
if he had no one to talk to and get things off of his chest. Due to him having
no one to talk to, he turned his questions to the Raven.
Annabel
Lee
The poem, Annabel Lee, written by Edgar Allen Poe
describes the narrators love for a beautiful woman. I found it romantic and
sweet how the narrator showed so much love for the girl who he grew up with.
The narrator describes their love as so meaningful and enchanting that the
angels and demons were envious of their love for each other, causing them to
kill her. I identified with Edgar Allen Poe when he said that not even death
could hinder their love, because I too believe that death should not stop
someone from loving another and you can still have deep feelings for one,
whether a relative or a lover. I also can relate to the narrator when he says
he can see parts of Annabel Lee in nature. I believe when someone passes, at
times you can be reminded of them just by certain objects, or things in nature,
such as the stars which the narrator refers to. However, I do believe towards
the end the narrators’ love for Annabel Lee turns into a freakish obsession
when he lays down next to her tomb in the sea. It indicated to me that the
narrator was unwilling to let his lover go and he wasn’t able to mourn her
death in a healthy way.

A Million
I feel that this story was extremely weird. This story
influenced me to come to realize that love and lust are two completely
different things. In the last page of the story, the author noted that your “lip,
hips, hands, and genitals are only receiving and transmitting impulses”. The
brain knows and feels love. When you think of love, it is about the feeling you
encounter inside of you. It’s not about the sexual attraction you feel towards
that person. You can be sexually attracted to multiple people, but that doesn’t
mean its love. This story also informed me that there are a plethora of
transgender individuals living among us. You would never really know someone’s
exact gender. In the story Dora was a
transgender. Although everyone perceived her as a female, she was really a
male. She had a hips, breasts and even a vagina. Due to no one knowing her true
gender made things really easy for her. Not only did it make it easier for her,
but it also did not interfere with her dancing. When I read that part of the
story, it made me realize how cruel and evil humans can be. For instance, when
someone is transgender they seem to be looked down upon within our society. Although
this story was extremely weird, it was also kind of fascinating. It informed me
that lust and love are two completely different things. Not only did it inform
me that love and lust are two different things, but it also opened up my eyes
about the transgender community.
When it changed
I found this story Very interesting. The main thing about
this story I like is how the ladies didn’t need the men on the planet of Whileaway.
I find this interesting because in our society, males and females are not
equal. When you look in the past, you can see that women was considered the
property of a man. Females had no rights in America. Females couldn’t vote till
the 19 Amendment which was ratified 1920. Most women stayed home and took care
of the house. Currently Ladies only made 77 Percent of each dollar that men
earn. This story fascinated me because it showed how women are more superior on
this planet. Another thing that was fascinating about this story was that same
sex marriage was normal on this planet. On the planet of Whileaway it was
normal for females to insist of same sex marriage. Same sex marriage is one of
the most controversial topics in America. Some people feel as if same sex
marriage is wrong. I feel as if same sex marriage is ok. If someone is happy
with the same sex, then I feel as if they should be able to get married just
like any other couple. This story was very interesting because I like how women
was independent on this planet.

The story Reason by Isaac Asimoc , was really a good read. it about how humans build a robot to run a base so they didn't have to use humans to work it, in the begin of the story you can see that the robot cutie had a lot of things going on in his metal head, so he begin to ask the humans were was he from. When he they told them they made him he was in disbelief . as the story goes on you van see that the robot is very intelligent and can since that he is more knowledgeable then the humans, he even say a lot of sarcastic remarks. through out the story you the humans began to fear Cutie, but is also happy in a since that they see how intelligent he is, and can see he do know how to work the base by himself. After reading this story I will love to see robots one day run things we no longer want to do. I want our technology to reach that point. I also think if it do the world wouldn't be able to handle another thing that might be smarter and stronger then us.
Super-Toys Last All Summer Long was about a father who was apart of a big technology company who made robots. He later brought one into his home, but his wife didn't really love the robot so much. The robot loved her, but was kind of scared of her at the same time. The story was confusing until the end when I found out boy was just a proxy for the family until they can have a child of their own. in the story you can she that the relationship between the sun and the mother was very dry and distant, although she said she tried to feel away for the boy but her feeling just couldn't get their.in this story I felt a lot of loneliness
UPDATE: In class we talked about what the story Reasons a lot, We also talked about what made a robot cute and creepy, For example Wall-E, everyone loves him in thinks he's cute, but then we have robots like the ones on the movie IRobot who is just creep . I also looked at some of my classmates post and I see we all wrote the same thing for the Story Toys, it seems like we were all confused until the end.

"The Star"
The story "The Star" by H.G Wells was very slow and hard to pick up, I thought it was boring but, interning at the same. I thought it was weird how everyone reacted to the fact that the world was ending. Everyone kept going on with their life and activities, it was almost like they didn't care. Everyone just accepted the fact that they was going to die and they seem to be okay with it. It was about a head full of people who was actually scared running trying to go to church's before the big bang. This story remind me of the world today and how people just accept a lot of things that are happening in their life, people know they cant change key things that's going on so, they just accept it in keep moving on with life.
"Speech Sounds"
The world population has been infected with a virus that takes away a person speech and other key things people need in their everyday life. Valerie who is a young woman who survived the virus that killed her three children and husband. Another main character was an man named Obsidian, in the story I saw him as a protector, he was the good guy. As I was reading this story, I notice it never told us were the virus came from or how it popped up. which made me think maybe its not the virus that's making these people do crazy things, maybe it their lack of communication. As humans we have this thing were we like to express our emotions and how we feel, with the virus taking that away may caused them to go crazy .I also though it was cool how Val and Obsidian found ways to communicate. The end of the story surprised me when I found out Val could talk all along.UPDATE

In this; story That Only a Mother by Judith Merril (1948) It talks about how radiation cam mess up a child's birth, by the parent being around it. it talks about an expecting mother named Margaret who is at home having thoughts about her child, think will she be fine or will she come out like the other children. All throughout the story Margaret seems to be blinded about the truth about her child. she was writing to her husband letting him know the child is okay in normal. I also notice when she was reading about the mutations in Hiroshima she keeps repeating to herself, “but my baby’s all right.” she kept lying to herself not trying to believe the truth. one her husband finally came home to see his baby, he was in shock to see that his baby is limbless. the perfect picture of a child that his wife put together for home was gone. at the end of the store it seems like her husband killed the child , “His fingers tightened on his child- oh god, she didn’t know…” . I think as a mother Margaret did the same thing that any mother would do, she loved her child, in looked past all of it flaws.
In We See Things Differently by Bruce Sterling(1989), it basically talks about how Arabs look at America, he descripts as greedy and money hungry “It is very easy to buy Americans. The mention of money brightens them like a shot of drugs” (pg.613). he also talked about how American women was sex symbols for American mans he says we "dressed in a way intended to provoke lust" which I think is not just American women but all women. do a litter extra to get what they want. at the end of the story Charlie sets up Boston by sharing some cocaine that was laced with a virus. he also says how religion had a lot to do with what he did, which I think is a lie, I think it was really because of hate.
Update :I wasn't in class to really give any update, but after reading some of my classmates blogs, I can tell that "only a Mother was big topic, and I also find it funny that a lot of their updates n post was about how crazy they mother was.

"Passengers" and "Out of All Them Bright Stars" (Blog 2)
The story "Out of All Them Bright Stars" was kind of weird, I thought the story was going to be about big bad aliens, but it turn out to be the total opposite. the story was about a nice gentle alien that walk in to an dinner to have lunch, and was greeted by a waiter. She was the only one that treated him like a person, everyone else saw him as a blue outsider. The story was weird to me because when I think of aliens I think of weird looking creatures trying to take over the world, but john wasn't nothing like that he was nice in kind, even when the owner treated him bad. This story made me think of racism and how people get mistreated .
The Story "Passengers" was nothing like "Out of All Them Bright Stars". that story made you think of freedom. Are you yourself or are you an alien. the story reminded me a lot of a movie that I saw named Host, its about how aliens who came in took over humans body, in people didn't know if their love ones was an alien or themselves.
UPDATE: In class we talked about "Out of All The Bright Stars and how it relates to the real world, and how people go around judging people everyday. I also found out that I wasn't the only one who didn't like the length of the story
